The Nebulous Interests & Values of Barack Obama

From today's edition of the Patriot Post...

Much Nothing About Ado
--Friday, April 1, 2011

We didn't think it possible for a president to present a nationally televised speech on a "kinetic military action" for roughly half an hour and say virtually nothing, but we were wrong. Late to decide on a course of action at all, Barack Obama's address to America on his nine-day-old decision to impose a no-fly zone over Libya was likewise late-to-need. The empty prattle had no substance so the speech would have been equally effective had Mr. Nobel-Peace-Prize-Winner given it on the same day he ordered all those "peaceful" bombs to rain down on Libyan heads.

Timely or not, we still would have liked to hear several statements that weren't included in the president's used-car pitch. Among these was an explanation for why the president didn't ask Congress for approval before giving the go-ahead order to bomb Libya -- a nation posing no imminent danger to the U.S. It also would have been nice to hear exactly what America's vital national interests are in Libya. If the answer -- as some left-pundits have posited -- is, "It's the oil, stupid," then let's hear that from the president.

Instead, Obama declared, "Mindful of the risks and costs of military action, we are naturally reluctant to use force to solve the world's many challenges. But when our interests and values are at stake, we have a responsibility to act." He took "time-limited, scope-limited" military action over "values"? Truly progressive

Read it all here

And no, Jim... president Obama did not consult Congress prior to engaging Libyan airspace with a barrage of tomahawks, and air-support for the Libyan rebels, some of whom are members of al-Qaeda.

Here's some more idiocy from the Left, courtesy of Matt Lauer... what a doofus!

  1. Thanks for the clip of Dumb and Dumberer. These two bozos wouldn't know media bias if it bit them in their big fat asses. They completely mis-characterized what Lauer said. They took two questions from a 10-minute interview with Sawyer and I'm so sure those were the toughest two. NOT.

What a couple of clowns. Hannity is the biggest dick on Fox and there are a lot of them.

  2. Cute, Jim. At least you're in good company... the pot calling the kettle black, and all? I mean, you're here a lot and you're a moron, so... welcome home.

  4. I am inclined to agree that Obama's presidency is one of the most difficult since FDR's.

Three wars. The earthquake and ensuing tsunami in Japan. The BP oil spill. The double digit unemployment rate. The housing crisis. The recession. The deficit. The National debt. The inability to reconcile the budget. The polarization of the two party system. The ever increasing racial divide in this country.

All Obama's problems. All caused or exacerbated by Obama's "feckless" policies.

  5. "All caused or exacerbated by Obama's "feckless" policies."

Really? Iraq? How has the president caused or exacerbated Iraq? How has he exacerbated Afghanistan? The earthquake and tsunami? He had what to do with any of that? Double digit unemployment? Not caused by Obama. And now below 9% due to his "feckless" policies.

The deficit is caused primarily by the recession and the Bush era tax cuts, plus the Bush-initiated wars. Stimulus and auto company bailouts have a negligible effect on deficit.

I'll say it again: Recession, Bush-tax cuts, wars.

Nobody will reconcile the budget for years to come. The polarization of the two-party system is not caused by Obama. This country is very divided and it doesn't matter if the president is Obama, McCain, or Gandhi.

Yes, these are Obama's problems. But they were neither caused nor exacerbated by him.

  6. Iraq, actually, was already toward the end of its run under Bush... a success, despite the cost. Obama could have made things worse, but thankfully his irresponsible rhetoric and actions didn't change the outcome. Afghanistan, however, has suffered under both Bush AND Obama: under Bush because he took the eye off the ball, focusing primarily on Iraq; under Obama because of his dithering and general poor handling of the prosecution.

The earthquake and Tsunami? I can't think of anything serious to point a finger at Obama over..........

But then Mark's comment isn't so much about what's WRONG with the Obama presidency (and there is a LOT wrong with it). Mark opened his remarks by stating agreement that Obama's presidency has been "one of the most difficult since FDR's." There's no assignment of blame in that paragraph of events.

And they are ALL Obama's problem. His watch. His problems, irrespective of who 'caused' them. But since we're talking cause and exacerbation, let's run down the list.

    Caused by:

--3 Wars (Afghanistan, Iraq Libya) - Bush 2, Obama 1

    --Earthquake/Tsunami - God

--BP Oil Spill - The Response? Obama. The inability to fix it quickly? Partly circumstance, partly Obama naivete and inexperience

--Double Digit Unemployment - exacerbated by Obama

--Housing Crisis - exacerbated by Obama

--The Recession - exacerbated by Obama

--The Deficit - exacerbated and worsened by Obama AND the previous democratic congress

--National Debt - exacerbated and worsened by Obama AND the previous democratic congress

--Budget Irreconcilability - Obama-squared, the previous democratic congress, current democratic lawmakers

--Polarization of the Parties - Obama's and democratic arrogance

--The Racial Divide - not ENTIRELY Obama's fault, but a great deal of culpability stains his hands

As to the s-called 'Bush Tax Cuts,' well, that's Obama's deal as well. He's the one who extended them, so, now they're OBAMA's tax cuts.

No one will reconcile the budget 'for years' (if ever) because democrats have a fundamental illusion blocking their ability to reason truth... namely, how much of what they support isn't even the business of government to get involved in.

As to why this country is so divided? Next comment...

  7. Continuing...

Why is this country so divided. The short answer?

    Public education.

Liberalism overwhelmingly controls the education of our children. The perversity we all know as the Department of Education (which is also unconstitutional, and should be abolished), has raised a generation of ignorants with no love of country, let alone an understanding of its history.

I could go further, and may in another post. But for now., let me simply say this nation is woefully ignorant of far too many things and of too many points of history. If we survive another 20-25 years as a nation I'll be surprised. Truly surprised. There is a dangerously high level of cultural ignorance in this country, held primarily by those under 30. And that doesn't bode well for America. If you raise a generation of godless children, don't be surprised if, when you're older, they have no love for you or your best interests at heart.
