Obama's First Official Interview as President

is given to a foreign Muslim news outlet, al-Arabiya.

Good idea? Or Bad? What message does it send to the Arab world? What message does it send to Americans?

  1. Pres. Obama first oficial interview was given to ABC.

  2. He is trying to convey a message to the Islamic terrorists that he is ready, able, and willing to appease them in order to have peace.

Either he is incredibly naive and/or delusional or he is intentionally inviting more attacks on America.

How else can they see these overtures other than a sign of weakness by the new administration?

And yes, I now not ALL muslims are terrorists, but tell me. How many peaceful Muslims have gone public with their condemnation of the terrorist attacks? Have there been any at all?

  3. Mark, for someone who advertises his genius IQ, you apparently have no idea that even Iran denounced al Qaeda terrorism. Routinely.

ALso, you apparently have no idea that there is a distinction between an interview with an Arab television news network and diplomatic negotiations with nation-states.

You ask: "How else can they see these overtures other than a sign of weakness by the new administration?" Gee, let's think of ways they might interpret it.

As a demonstration that, unlike the Bush Administration, Pres. Obama understands the complexity and diversity of the Muslim world and is willing to work with them on common goals.

As an object lesson in what a real President of the United States does, viz., deal with other countries rather than call them names from afar.

As a demonstration that we now have a President fluent in English.

  4. "Iran denounced al Qaeda terrorism"

And geniuses like you believe them.

They also say the holocaust never happened. Do you believe that, too, just because they said so? How naive are you, anyway?

Why are you so quick to swallow everything our enemies say and so loathe to believe your own Country?

Let me remind you that Iran is our enemy. They will lie if they think it will be to their advantage.

And you're accusing Bush of being less than articulate when your Messiah can't even complete an intelligible sentence without a teleprompter?

    Give me a break.

If you hate this country so much, go live in Iran and see how long you will last with a wife that wears the pants in the family.

  5. Geoffrey, hate to break this to you, but all forty-three prior to Barack were also "real" presidents.

  6. I didn't hear the interview myself. But if he's speaking of a two state solution in the middle east without first demanding that Hamas stand down and the Palestinians reject the teaching that Jews are worthy only of destruction, then he hasn't shown anything in the realm of intelligence. He is not dealing with reality. He is showing a lack of kehones(sp). He is definitely NOT showing he has a better grasp than his predeccessor who rightly refused to negotiate with scumbags. Geoffrey, by not getting treatment for your BDS, you have now succombed to OWS. This could be fatal.

  8. Marshall...

"Cojones" is the spelling you're looking for.

Some folks spell it with an 'a' after the 'C' but this is wrong. Two entirely different meanings.

Pronounce it with an 'a' to Spanish speakers and they'll think you're talking about your drawers.... your desk or dresser drawers.

  9. Thanks, Eric. Probably should have chosen a better, more civil manner of speech, but I find value in getting the point across as accurately as I can. "Cojones" or any of the many other alternatives for that region of the anatomy works best but compromises propriety. An unfortunate conundrum.

What further proof of naivete' does one need?!?!

J-Off, you really CAN'T be THAT ignorant, can you?

Brittania? Germany? Italy? Japan? Confederate States of America? Spain? Mexico?

I wish we WOULD deal with the bastards! Hell, I wish we had ALREADY dealt with the murderous thugs!
