Exhibit A:
"Yesterday, Rahm Emanuel declared that Rush Limbaugh is "the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party." In truth, Rush is just a massive shiny object that distracts our attention from the real intellectual force behind the Republican Party, Karl Rove. He demonstrated on This Week why he is the real danger in the wounded-but-still-destructive GOP. There he was, calmly, lucidly, and shamelessly trying to eviscerate Obama's proposals to get us out of the economic mess -- without ever once acknowledging that he was one of the prime architects of the mess. Having Rove on to pontificate about the economy is like having Bernie Madoff on to offer advice about investing. What's next? Inviting Chris Brown on to tsk-tsk about the dangers of domestic violence?"
Liberals apparently have never heard the names-- in context of the lending collapse --Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank... Fannie, anyone? Freddie?
I thought not.
Absolutely true that they insist on spinning their way out of any responsibility for this situation.
ReplyDeleteI offer two points:
First, Bush spent half of his bailout measure (or was it a stimulus bill--I can't keep 'em straight since they both do little good). He was leaning against using the other half, but, since he's not a lib/Dem and possesses some class, he allowed the president-elect the option of making the call. Of course, Barry said "SPEND IT", and I believe he asked for a bit more. So without being president, he spent over 350 Billion Dollars.
Secondly, as it is true that the Repubs controlled Congress for a few years and went on their own spending spree (the real reason they lost control at the mid-terms), it would be interesting to see how many Dems stood firmly and loudly against any of that spending, or if they just jumped on with their own pork as well. Maybe someone cares to look. I don't. I'd rather wager that they did little to impede said Republican spending.
So, for them to just whine about who's fault the mess is would be sheer hypocrisy.
With the new budget a nice nonpartisan group called Taxpayers for Common Sense went through and sorted the earmarks by senator and guess what? Even though Republicans are far in the minority six of the top ten earmarkers are GOP.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what the quotation in the headline means..."spelled with a K"?
ReplyDeleteThat link BenT linked to... I fail to see the relevance. Every Senator and Congressman lobbies for earmarks for their home states in every bill. It's only the ridiculous ones that most people have problems with. And there's no doubt Some Republicans are as guilty of that as most Democrats. So what? There are exceptions to every rule.
The "K" is a joke; a jab at the Soros wing of the Democrat Party. They make ridiculous statements about their political enemies all the time...
ReplyDeleteKarl with a "K" as in Karl Marx? Because he spells it with a "K" there MUST be something evil about him?
