Not Even In Name Only

RINO Arlen Spector has left the party. Good riddance. I have a real problem with someone who jumps ship in the middle of a term. It shows an obvious tendency to care more for the power than of the opportunity to serve, and definitely more than principle. I suppose he's trying to play the "the party left me" angle. But he was never much of a conservative, so that doesn't really wash. An honorable man would at least announce such intentions to the party so that they can prepare as well as to prevent donations from those who wouldn't donate to a non-party member. What a self-serving creep. Oh well, his vote for the stim bill put him on the s**t list anyway. Now Penn Repubs can offer a candidate of principle and honor, instead of re-running this phony.

The Dems will take anybody as evidenced by the existence of Stuart Smalley, so Spector will fit right in. Power and the votes to get and maintain it is all that concerns them, and if Stu wins, which looks likely, they'll have those 60 they need to thwart filibusters. If you thought the Obamanation was ramming crap down our throats before, just wait.

This Specter thingy...along with Obama's visit to Mexico last week...and the fact that the HHS is non-existent...AND this bogus
Swine-Flu fearmongering...not to mention that DHS is forming policy about the faux pandemic...will add up to a sever loss in our liberties somehow!

I can feel it!

Jim April 28, 2009 at 6:22 PM

I think you had a sever (sic) loss a long time ago.

Limbaugh, the leader of the Republican Party, is ready to let McCain go, too.

And then there's Olympia Snowe of Maine, Susan Collins of Maine, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, and Jim Bunnings threat of a month ago...

Gee! You know you guys have turned out to be right. It's the domino effect of communism from the 60s.

Re: "Limbaugh, the leader of the Republican Party"

HA HA HA HA! Please stop! "Limbaugh the leader"!

My sides are hurting!"Limbaugh the leader! HA HA HA HA!

You really have drunk the kool-aid haven't you?

Mark April 28, 2009 at 10:11 PM

Spector switches to the democratic party.

There's a surprise. NOT!

Yep. Good riddance.

If Spector thinks he can win as a Democrat... Good luck to him. He'll need it.

Now maybe Republicans can get a Man in there who has some semblance of principles.

"Now maybe Republicans can get a Man in there who has some semblance of principles."

Not! (on so many levels)

Feodork finally answered my gracious invitation to him and his wife to visit my home in the Ozarks overnight at my blog.

And revealed his extreme bigotry and unquestionable hypocrisy in the process.

Even if Spector wins the election for Senator as a Democrat, there is no guarantee that he would vote to prevent a filibuster should that situation ever present itself.

The Republicans haven't been able to depend on his support. What makes the Democrats think they can? The man is an attention whore. If swimming against the tide will get him attention, whatever issue the Senate is voting on won't matter. He will vote in whatever way will benefit him the most.

Eric April 30, 2009 at 11:24 AM

Polls show him losing the next election to another republican. His move is only an attempt to keep his job. He doesn't care about ideology, he cares about his chair, his power, his prestige. Let the Dems have him.

Oh, and Feodor. You come across as fairly knowledgeable, even if I disagree with you. But your assertion that Limbaugh is the defacto head of the Republican party is pure ignorance. I certainly never pictured you as a mouthpiece for the liberal lunatic fringe.

Feodor April 30, 2009 at 7:56 PM

I was just poking at the mixed blessing of Limbaugh.

BenT - the unbeliever,  May 1, 2009 at 1:01 PM

So who do you think IS the leader of the republican party?

Eric May 1, 2009 at 2:40 PM

For good or ill, Michael Steele is the chairman of the Republican National Committee, and the leader of the Republican Party.

I thought you knew this.

BenT - the unbeliever,  May 1, 2009 at 2:46 PM

Does he best represent the views of most conservatives? Does he articulate your party message best?

Barack Obama isn't the head of the democratic party by your reasoning, but at present he is the most effective, best known voice for the party.

Eric May 1, 2009 at 3:08 PM

The president is ALWAYS the leader of his party... it is the president that sets the agenda. The party out of power relies on the chairman of their party's national committee for leadership and fund-raising.

Michael Steele is the leader of the Republican party, whether he best represents MY political views or not.

Barack Obama is the leader of your party. Plain and simple.
