INSANE.... Spiritually speaking...

When half a nation divests itself of commonsense; when half a nation has no fear of God, blasphemy is not far behind.

I don't care to see blasphemy laws enacted here in the US; especially the one fronted by the U.N. (The only religion it would defend, primarily, is Islam). I believe everyone has the right to say what he wants provided it doesn't cause harm; the right to swing my fist, for example, ends at the tip of your nose, or crying 'fire!' in a crowded building.

So what can we say about Jamie Foxx who asked a crowded auditorium to "give an honor to...our lord and savior Barack Obama"? He was only joking? Who jokes about such a thing? A fool. A fool with no reverence for, or fear of, God.

This is what comes of removing all vestiges of God in our education and judicial systems, and public square. We are a nation who has forgotten God.

But Jamie Foxx was only joking!

I believe he was, but this is nothing to joke about. Barack Obama didn't die a painful and humiliating death on the cross to save us from our sin. God didn't so love the world that he gave his ONLY begotten son, Barack Obama, that whosoever believed on him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Barack Obama is not God!

That's right, Jesus IS God, and God is Jesus.

Now, what man is it the bible says will be revered and worshiped as God? Do I really need to answer that? Do I believe that man which the bible describes is Barack Obama? Certainly not. But neither do I believe Obama is a born again believer of Christ. And I can't imagine any born again believer saying what Jamie Foxx did, unless he was seriously backslidden, and his conscience dramatically seared.

This country is sick. It needs a healer. It needs a Godly prescription. Otherwise the cancer which has already metastasized in America's soul will surely kill it. And soon.

  1. To be fair, I'm pretty certain Barack Obama didn't tell Foxx to say that. ON the other hand, I haven't heard that Obama corrected him, either.

  2. I made no such claim, and neither has Obama made any outward claim to deity himself, but then neither has he stood up and rejected any such appellations made by others. Personally, I would be appalled if someone made such a claim about me and, thankfully, no one ever will-- [Jim can roll his eyes all he wishes, but I find it particularly disturbing that Obama is even jokingly referred to as our 'LORD and SAVIOR']. I know it's hackneyed; a well-worn and old complaint, but had such been said about George W. Bush, folks like Jim would have sneered and used the event to attack not only Bush, but conservatives in general.

And, generally speaking, the Left sees nothing wrong with saying such things. Sadly, neither do many on the right, despite their weak complaints. There's just not much reverence for God these days in America.

But America's downward trend isn't solely spiritual, it's intellectual as well. Our school children are being denied the same American history we were taught. Instead, they are getting the new revised standard version. From the article, The Left Continues to Revise America’s History... "If the founder’s views do not reinforce those of the left, eliminate any reference to their views in history books."

And, just as sadly, few on the Left will see anything wrong with what is now being taught in American classrooms. Or, rather, what is NOT being taught.

Just as disturbing, the Left (including, and especially media) have revived an old tactic with which to 'disqualify' future potential presidential candidates, even those seeking a lower-level political office... the inquisition:

"[I]n a routine interview, a glossy pop magazine popped Florida Senator Marco Rubio with an oddball question: How old do you think the earth is?

"Their game is either to force Rubio to affirm a personal belief the earth is 4.5 billion years old—disturbing some of his religious supporters–or to mock and stigmatize him and others who could harbor any delusional uncertainty—damaging him with a different part of the electorate.

"The snarling pack imposes a totalitarian demand: No matter whether you’re intelligent, you engage the real world, you offer solutions to problems, and you attract and persuade citizens to support your vision and solutions; the pack demands to know if you have any hidden reserves of unsavory, illogical faith. Deny it or be tarred and marginalized."

This is nothing new EL The nation has had previous presidents that were "elevated". The nation has survived.

The Apotheosis of Washington in the eye of the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol was painted in the true fresco technique by Constantino Brumidi in 1865. Brumidi (1805-1880) was born and trained in Rome and had painted in the Vatican and Roman palaces before emigrating to the United States in 1852. A master of creating the illusion of three-dimensional forms and figures on flat walls, Brumidi painted frescoes and murals throughout the Capitol from 1855 until his death.

The Apotheosis of Washington, his most ambitious work at the Capitol, was painted in 11 months at the end of the Civil War, soon after the new dome was completed, for $40,000. The figures, up to 15 feet tall, were painted to be intelligible from close up as well as from 180 feet below. Some of the groups and figures were inspired by classical and Renaissance images, especially by those of the Italian master Raphael.

In the central group of the fresco, Brumidi depicted George Washington rising to the heavens in glory, flanked by female figures representing Liberty and Victory/Fame. A rainbow arches at his feet, and thirteen maidens symbolizing the original states flank the three central figures. (The word "apotheosis" in the title means literally the raising of a person to the rank of a god, or the glorification of a person as an ideal; George Washington was honored as a national icon in the nineteenth century.)

  4. The Apotheosis, as cited in the excerpt you offered, does not rise to the level of calling George Washington 'our Lord and Savior'. I see where you're wanting to go with this, but you're comparing apples to oranges. The "raising of a person to the rank of a god, or the glorification of a person as an ideal," is not the same as calling on an audience to give honor to "our Lord and Savior, Barack Obama."

It's one thing to attempt in a painting the deification of a man; as you've shown, men have done this throughout history. But I don't recall very many who have asked others to honor a man as the son of God...save, of course, the actual Son of God, Jesus.

Barack did not do this, just to be clear. What I find disturbing is that someone would say such a thing as Jamie Foxx did, about ANY man.

Perhaps it's just on my end, but it looks as though Vimeo has removed the video. I'm surprised, but not displeased.

  5. Jim,

    Don't pretend you're concerned about Christ's sake.
