"Who Are You?"

No, congressman, who the fuck are you!? (to quote Townshend and Daltrey)

Another asshole democrat hopefully on his way out the door in November. What gives this asshole the right to accost a student? Grip his arm with white knuckles? grap the back of his neck in a vice grip? Would this asshole have grabbed a man 6'3" and 250lbs? Not likely. What a coward!

Congressman Bob Etheridge (D-NC), I hope your ass gets waxed this November. You don't deserve your seat in congress. Who! The! FUCK! Do! You! Think! YOU! Are!

  1. I can't tell you how much this pisses me off. And to be clear, I'd be just as pissed if this ass were a republican! If I were this student I'd pressed charges.

  2. He will apologize within the week. Mark my words.

Although...it will be the typical Liberal apology...you know, something like, "IF I have offended anyone, I apologize, but...(fill in the rest)"

  3. I think the traditional thing for Democrat congressman to do is apologize then enter rehab.

  4. I believe you will be shown to be a prophet, Mark!

But here's hoping he loses big in November.

  5. Who IS he? Are you serious?? He's a Democratic Congressman of the United States of America, damnit!! He's part of the royality of this country, the ruling class, the elite, the untouchables, the people more equal than the rest of us!!! How dare you impune his...

Never mind. He's a complete jerk and not fit for public service.

  6. AND HE'S JUST APOLOGIZED! Heard in on the radio! And that'll be the end of that, as far as Dems are concerned.

The voters will get him come November. He doesn't deserve his seat. Not if he thinks that with having a right to know who's speaking with him also comes the right to manhandle citizens on the street.

Notice the full frame graphic and the fact the kid's face has been blurred. Obviously the video was edited to heighten it's impact. Second, the guys were from Andrew Breitbart's Red State blog, so they may be students, but they are certainly political operatives with a viewpoint too. Third, ALL the liberal blogs I've read have condemned the Congressman for his treatment of the kid. Forth, conservative don't want to start comparing politicians with scandals, there are a lot more skeletons in conservative closets..

  8. According to the law, threatening words are called assault. Actually putting one's hands on another person is called battery. The Congressman has committed assault and battery. All that's necessary for him to be arrested is for the victim to file charges.

I'm pretty sure a convicted felon would have a difficult time getting re-elected, but not absolutely sure. After all, he is a democrat, and behavior such as this is more or less expected.

  9. One, having been in the TV business for more than a decade I can tell you (and you should know this yourself) ALL video is edited. But the important part of this isn't, unless you want to suggest the confrontation took much longer than 15 seconds for the other student to pick up the camera. Furthermore, there's nothing sinister about a frame graphic, especially one that consists of a plain purple background with white lettering.

Two, the video was posted on Breitbart but that hardly means they were working for him. And what would it have mattered if they DID work for Breitbart considering the congressman's actions? None whatsoever. Besides branding them as RedState operatives to discredit is laughable. The branding of these students as operatives does nothing to excuse the congressman behavior. Remember the two who repeatedly stung and discredited ACORN? Their actions didn't excuse those of ACORN. ACORN's actions were reprehensible whatever the motive of the sting.

Third, I applaud those Liberal blogs with eyes enough to see right from wrong. It's nice to see that not all of you are in need of eye-transplants.

Fourth, you're deluded if you think that both Dems and Repubs don't BOTH have skeletons. But it's awfully convenient that you, and others like you, focus only on the repubs' skeletons while obscuring, rather Oz-like, your own. You make excuses for your own while holding up republicans as proof of moral superiority. What you fail to do, however, is acknowledge your own paragons of failure, or hold them to account. Which makes your fourth point rather hypocritical.

The camera is knocked to the ground and then is cut to a full frame graphic. The audio is also cut. We never see the camera be picked up. The next video is who knows how much later. What can be seen in the next video is that the congressman has moved further down the sidewalk. So has the "student interviewer", who is holding his iphone up in his hand, which the Congressman grabs. So at least enough time passed between the camera falling to the ground and the clip resuming for the interviewer to get out his iphone and open an app. Also notice that the cameraman and the interviewer never identify themselves to the Congressman.

They were out to get someone and he was stupid enough to walk into their trap.

  11. Hey Bent. Do you suppose these two people, who quickly identified themselves as students working on a project, set this whole interview up with the congressman? Was he in on the joke? Do you suppose the assault and battery on the two filmmakers was scripted and rehearsed?

    For what purpose?

Do you think the Congressman agreed to appear to physically assault the young man? If so, do you think this endears him to the electorate?

Whatever their purpose. Whatever their intent. Whatever their ideology, they were nevertheless, physically attacked.

Or do you think his attack was somehow justified? If so, that's a very strange viewpoint coming from a typically thin-skinned Liberal wuss like you.

Yes one of these "students" was technically assaulted. But let's not kid ourselves that he got an uppercut and a haymaker from the congressman. He may have a fingernail scrape and a bruise around his wrist. His hair was mussed. Don't pull the aggrieved victim here. There were no victims.

The students recognize the congressman walking anonymously down the sidewalk and ask a gotcha question, "Do you fully support the Obama agenda?" The congressman replied by asking, "Who are you?" If I were a congressman I'd want to know who anyone asking me that question on camera was. Almost any response to, "Do you fully support the Obama agenda?" could be turned into an opposition campaign commercial. Maybe that was the source of his unjustified anger when the kids didn't respond with the truthful, "We're a conservative hit squad from a website specializing in gotcha videos."

But you're an adult you can believe whatever you want.

  13. It certainly looks like the Congressman is being a jerk. It certainly looks like the kids/young adults are being jerks, too.

From this EDITED piece, it looks like the Congressman is being the biggest jerk, by far. But then, this IS edited.

Who is being the biggest jerk would probably be revealed by showing the full recording.

    Fair enough?
